From the Counselor’s Corner: Welcome Back! As a new guidance counselor at Slater-Marietta School, I am excited to have this opportunity to guide and teach your children. This year we are “Leaping into Learning’ and the guidance department is “Hopping with Good Character!” Your support of our program is appreciated and welcomed!
The Top Ten Ways to Build a Healthy Child are: 1. Nurture your child’s pride in themselves. 2. Reinforce the dangers and tragic consequences of alcohol and other drugs. 3. Praise the courage, strength, and determination children not to use or be involved in drugs. 4. Talk to your children. 5. Encourage your child to tell you about their hopes and dreams. 6. Give your children your time and attention. 7. Set a good example! 8. Tell your children about your friends and family just like you who are out in the community doing good things every day. 9. Strengthen your children’s sense of being a part of something great--- The Slater-Marietta Elementary School people. 10. Get Involved with our school and after-school activities.
