Course Description: Art III is a course for those who have successfully completed Art I and Art II. The class will focus on specific projects in a variety of media. Projects will be introduced by the teacher, but students will be required to take instruction and apply it to his/her own style. Projects will be given at a consistent pace, so students will need to stay on top of deadlines. Students will be required keep a weekly sketchbook.

Assessment:

1)Participation

a.Students receive a weekly grade based on the following “performance based” items assessed each day of the week

i.The student is prepared and ready for class when the tardy bell rings

ii.The student listens carefully to and participates in the day’s lesson

iii.The student uses art materials as instructed.

iv.The student clearly labels and signs classroom work

v.The student uses class time to complete given tasks

vi.The student leaves workspace clean and all materials stored properly

vii.The student is ready to dismiss at the end class bell

By accomplishing these simple tasks each day, the student can earn a Participation grade of 100 at the end of each week.

2)Projects

a.Art III is a hands on class – the majority of the requirements for this class will be done in class. Any student willing to do his or her best can easily perform well on all class work and projects. Students are encouraged to have regular attendance and use class time wisely. Should a student fall behind for any reason, the student is required to finish incomplete work to receive a grade. No partial credit grades are given. Each assignment is graded according to instructional goals taught before the assignment is done. Following directions, good craftsmanship, creativity, attitude and using time wisely are a part of every grade. Students are given deadlines, expected to complete assignments, and turn them in on time. Penalties for late work are assessed at 10 points per day. The teacher will work with students to help them meet deadlines. Assignments that are plagiarized will receive no credit.

3)Sketchbooks

a.There will be specific weekly assignments given, and students are responsible for completing these challenges every Monday.

CLASS EXPECTATIONS

  1. Proper respect and care of all art materials is required.
  2. Never handle art work other than your own (Unless specifically directed by Miss Plecha)
  3. Take care of and clean your work area each day. You will lose time in class and the privilege of using art materials to work on projects if this is not consistently followed.
  4. I appreciate all imagination in art.

CLASSROOM PROCEDURES

  1. Enter the room and be seated with any materials needed for the day.
  2. Listen to the beginning instruction
  3. Restroom/water passes are issued 5 per student each semester. Use them wisely.
  4. Music will be played in class; NO IPODS allowed.
  5. During clean up time (last 10 minutes of the class), clean your work area and store materials in your assigned tray or bin.
  6. Be seated after you clean up.
  7. The bell does not teach this class. The bell will NOT dismiss you. That’s Miss Plecha’s job.

Severe Clause:

Certain Offenses Determined by Administration Will Result in an Immediate Office Referral.

Materials Needed: A 1” three ring binder, page dividers, notebook paper, page protectors/ Deadline for having these materials is Monday, August 27th.

Course Description: Art I is designed as a beginning course introducing students to a variety of media, techniques, and famous artists. Students will produce artwork in all art styles. Written minimum requirements and guidelines will be given out for all in-class assigned art projects.
