For 27 years, I have worked in Greenville County Schools. I began my career teaching second and third grade; and later directed a reading and math lab for grades 1-5. After receiving my masters degree from Furman University, I taught as a reading specialist. It was my work teaching young children to read that created my interest in helping parents develop their children’s love for reading. In 2000, I took a position as a parent educator visiting in homes to encourage families to engage in early literacy activities as part of their daily routine. As Family Learning Project Director, I supervised parent educators and the Family Literacy program for Greenville County. In 2009, I came to Riley Child Development Center where I now serve as Assistant Principal. I recieved my Administration Certification from Clemson University.
God has blessed me with a wonderful family. My husband Steven and I have been married over 30 years. We have 2 sons, a daughter-in-law, and 2 granddaughters. We have a miniature schnauzer named Regen. I love spending time with my family and being actively involved at church. I also enjoy running and reading.
One of my very favorite quotes - “Neither a lofty degree of intelligence nor imagination nor both together go to the making of genius. Love, love, love. That is the soul of genius.” Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
