League Athletics:
At all times, League Academy student athletes are expected to represent themselves and League Academy well. This means good sportsmanship, good behavior, good language, and good effort.

Physicals for 2011/12 School Year: Rising 7th and 8th grade students wishing to play Sports this year will need a Physical to participate. Physicals are valid for ALL sports the entire school year, so DO NOT wait till the last minute to get your Physical. Students CAN NOT participate in conditioning or Try Out until a Physical is turned in. For Basketball we advise getting Physicals by October 3, 2011 and for Spring Sports we advise having Physicals turned in by January 9, 2012. If you get a Physical for a High School sport, that Physical is valid here at League; make a copy and turn in to Mr. McCartney. It is the Family's responsibility to obtain a copy of the physical, League Athletics will not track the Physical down.

Sports Physicals: Reminder, any student wishing to tryout for any sport, must have a Physical completed and signed by the doctor and turned in to the coach prior to engaging in any conditioning and tryouts. (Physicals obtained for a High School sport are valid for Middle School; YOU must get a copy from the high school and turn in here). Physical forms can be obtained by going to the League website and clicking on the Athletics tab and printing a copy, picking up a copy in the front office, or students can pick a copy up from Mr. McCartney in room 316. Don’t wait till the last minute, get the physical done early! Physicals are NO guarantee of a position on a team; students must successfully demonstrate the skills to the coach during try outs to earn a place on the team. All Physicals are good for the entire school year and must be dated after April 1st.
Eligibility: Students eligibility is established on the first day of 7th grade. If you come to League after the first day or new as an 8th grader, you are NOT eligible. Please see Mr. McCartney immediately and we will submit the paperwork necessary to obtain eligibility. Grades and Behavior are reviewed to determine eligibility.

    Injury Prevention Exercise Initiative

The Greenville County Schools, in cooperation with the Greenville Hospital System, Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas, ProAxis Therapy, and Acceleration Sports Institute, have instituted a series of exercises that are designed to compensate for weaknesses of specific areas in flexibility, balance and core strength—where such weaknesses have been proven to lead to higher incidences of injury in athletes. The exercises have been designed by the orthopedic doctors, physical therapists, and exercise specialists in the above organizations and in conjunction with the Sports Sciences Department at the University of North Carolina. The expectation is that all athletic coaches and teams in the Greenville County Schools incorporate these exercises in their daily warm-up routines before practices and games. We strongly encourage all athletes to make these exercises a part of their regular routine before any physical activity. The link above will allow you to see an introductory video and a demonstration of each of the exercises that are integral to this injury prevention program. Injury Prevention Exercise Initiative
