J. L. Mann high school mission statement:
We provide educational experiences, in cooperation with the home and community, that prepare students for lifelong learning and for ethical, productive participation in a democratic society and the global community
Dear Parents,
Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year at JL Mann High School! I look forward to working with you in the upcoming months! I know that we are going to have a productive year in the classroom.
With this new beginning comes much opportunity for success and achievement. In order to achieve success, I expect the students and I to work together to establish a classroom environment in which everyone will have the opportunity to learn. This week I will be going over classroom expectations, procedures, consequences, required materials, grading policy, and some tips for success. All of this information can be found class on my personal website which is located on the J.L. Mann page. Please sign contract sheet sent home with the students and return it by Friday, August 20 . This will supply me with necessary information that I will need throughout the school year.
I believe that the learning process for each student is different. For this reason, I use many different types of instruction in my classroom, such as overhead lecture, power point presentations, cooperative learning groups, review games, and extended practice to make sure that I am benefiting each student. I also believe that all students can learn. In order for this to happen it takes full cooperation of the student, teacher, and parents. I will always enter the class with a positive attitude, have a great sense of humor, and maintain a warm and inviting environment. This is my obligation to the students. I know that I am putting forth 100% in order for my students to learn. If they give 100% effort towards learning, the only outcome, as I see it, will be learning.
I am looking forward to a successful school year and to working with each of you. Parent contact and involvement are very important to me. Email is the best way to communicate with me on a weekly basis. Let me know if this is a problem for you. Please feel free to visit my classroom or email me (hballenger@greenville.k12.sc.us) if you have questions or concerns. I appreciate your investment in your child’s education, and I am excited about getting to know each of you! Thanks in advance for your support!
Sincerely,
Mr. Hunter Ballenger
