Media Center Mission

The mission of the school library media center is to ensure students and staff become effective, life-long users of ideas and information. We provide a stimulating environment in which all members of the school community have access to educational resources and recreational information. We provide materials such as, but not limited to, print, non-print, periodicals, books, electronic resources, and videos. A professional librarian works with teachers and administrators to select and purchase collections to support the school's curriculum. The media specialist and the media clerk classify, organize and store materials. We help patrons retrieve, interpret and use information in a friendly, non-threatening environment. We educate students and staff on library and technology use, and the media specialist collaborates with teachers to deliver standards-driven instruction. The school library promotes information literacy and nurtures the habit of reading on a daily basis.

Media Center Schedule

The Pamela L. Cribbs Media Center operates on a flexible schedule. What does this mean for staff and students? This means students, staff and parents may come to the media center to borrow materials any time during the day, and staff can schedule lessons when there is a need to connect information literacy skills with the curriculum. With flexible access it is possible for a student to visit the media center every day, with his/her teacher's permission, to select a new book or conduct research. There is no waiting because every day is library day!
