Welcome to Kindergarten!

I am Mrs. Griffin and I am thrilled to be your child’s teacher this school year!  You and your child are about to travel down a new educational road and we will be by your side every step of the way.  I have two goals this year.  My first goal is to develop a trusting relationship with each of my families and their child.  This positive rapport will ensure a constructive working relationship throughout the school year that will benefit your child academically, socially, emotionally, physically, and behaviorally.  Consistent communication between the family and the teacher is my priority.  I will accomplish this goal through my classroom “open door” policy, high parent involvement, daily emails, weekly newsletters, notes home, telephone calls, my class website, quarterly progress and report cards, and a minimum of two conferences.  My second goal as your child’s kindergarten teacher is to set the tone for his/her educational career.  Our school year will be fun and full of learning!  My expectations are high and individualized for each child.  I am committed to providing the very best, developmentally appropriate education for your child.  You know your child better than anyone and we will unite your insight with my professional expertise to best meet your child’s educational needs throughout his/her kindergarten year.  In closing, I want to thank you in advance for your trust, patience, optimism, and diligence throughout the school year.  Your child has many new and exciting experiences ahead and, together, we will delight in in the joy of his/her transformation!  J

Buena Vista Mission Statement
The mission of Buena Vista Elementary School is to educate students academically while supporting them socially and emotionally as they develop into productive citizens and lifelong learners.

Mrs. Griffin's Mission Statement
Collaborating with families to educate young children academically, socially, emotionally, and physically while maintaining professional integrity.

Our Class Mission Statement

We will learn, get smart, get a job, and have money, so we can have food, water, clothes, and a home.

Parents, we will begin every day by reciting our class mission statement.  Please help your child to learn this mission.

Our Code of Cooperation

Mrs. Griffin’s 2011-2012 class will:

We will:

·        Obey teachers and friends the first time

·        Work hard every day

·        Show we care about our friends and our classroom

·        Walk in the school

·        Stay together

Please review these classroom rules with your child each day before school.  Following this "Code of Cooperation" will enable your child to stay on green and be successful at school.
