Learning Forward (2012) designed a set of National
Professional Development Standards by which to plan,
implement, and evaluate professional learning within a
school. According to these standards, professional
learning should occur collaboratively within learning
communities, utilize multiple data sources, be aligned
with outcomes, and focus on continual improvement.
BCES will focus on four areas of professional learning
during the 2013-2014 school year: 1) transition to CCSS,
2) continued implementation of Balanced Literacy,
3) creating a formal process to monitor common
assessments, and 4) continued use of interactive student technology.
