EQ:   How did SC gain economic prosperity?  (Standard 8-1.4)

Homework:   Review information – quiz tomorrow

Today:

o   Students briefly reviewed the issues causing problems with Native Americans discussed Friday, then continued noting information about SC’s early economic situation and success. 

o   Students had an opportunity to view a PowerPoint about the rice growing process, then students were given a flow-chart about the rice process with questions to answer.  This assignment is due tomorrow

o   Tomorrow’s quiz will be based on information from Mercantilism to Rice – the rice process itself will not be on the quiz.

Homework:   Review information

Today:

o   Students were given an opportunity to look over their notes in preparation of today’s quiz

o   Students turned in the Rice Work Cycle sheet they got yesterday and could finish last night, if needed

o   Students took Quiz 1 SC Colonial Economy and Conflict

o   Students were given a viewing sheet to focus their attention and we saw a portion an excellent documentary, When Rice was King 

o   Students were given a worksheet, Rice Work Cycle to begin in class and complete as homework, if needed

EQ:  How did SC gain economic prosperity?  (Standard 8-1.4)

Homework:   Review information

Today:

o   Students got back the quiz taken yesterday and had a chance to correct any issues

o   Students got back the Rice Work Cycle Sheet and had a chance to correct any issues

o   Students watched an Our Story episode about Eliza Lucas Pinckney and completed a viewing guide focusing their attention on information presented about women, slaves and indigo.

o   Students were given a worksheet, Indigo:  Producing the Dye to begin in class and complete as homework, if needed

EQ:   How did SC gain economic prosperity?  (Standard 8-1.4)

Homework:   Review information

Today:

o   Students turned in the worksheet, Indigo:  Producing the Dye given in class yesterday and completed as homework

o   Students had a chance to organize and label the information they have thus far in this unit (1. SLM, 2. Supply and Demand Predictions, 3.  Mercantilism notes, 4. Economic Prosperity notes, 5.  Rice Work Cycle sheet, 6.  Quiz #1, 7.  When Rice was King (I still have this one) 8.  Our Story:  Eliza Lucas Pinckney 9. Indigo: Producing the Dye (turned in to me today)

o   Returned to students the Our Story viewing guide and discussed information they included that was impressive about women, slaves and indigo. 

o   Students labeled a new set of notes “Indigo & Mercantilism Problems” and noted information as discussed in class.  Students ended the class by drawing a visual representation of mercantilism

EQ:  How did SC gain economic prosperity?  (Standard 8-1.4)

Homework:   Complete Acrostic Assignment

o   Students were given their class progress report

o   After a brief review of all the ways Carolina became prosperous students were given the Acrostic Assignment.  Students were able to work on the assignment in class and ask questions if there were any difficulties.  The assignment is due Monday.
