Welcome to HMS and to my webpage!  My name is Michi Cortese and I am the 6th grade administrator at Hillcrest Middle School.  This is my 9th year at Hillcrest Middle.  Our mission at HMS is to create a collaborative learning community focused on student achievement. 

About Me:
My husband, Chris Cortese, and I have two little boys, Coby, who is 5 years old and Cross almost 2.    We live in Simpsonville with our Calico cat named Callie.  I have lived in Simpsonville just about all of my life.  I was born in Tokyo, Japan and came to the US when I was 2 years old.  As a child I attended Plain Elementary, Bryson Middle and Hillcrest High.  I graduated from Clemson University, Cum Laude, in 1995 with a Bachelors in Elementary Education.  After graduating from Clemson I moved to Raleigh, NC and taught there for 3 years.  In 1998, I moved back to Simpsonville and began teaching at Ellen Woodside Elementary until 2002.  In August 2002, after finishing my Masters Degree in Elementary School Leadership from Furman Univerisity, I had the wonderful opportunity to serve as Assistant Principal at Hillcrest Middle, and I love it here!  Since I grew up in Simpsonville, I have a special love for this community!  In my spare time I love spending quality time with my family.
