Welcome to the web site for Mr. D's and Mrs. Donna's four-year-old Kindergarten class at Heritage Elementary School. Many exciting things will be going on in our class this year. I hope that this site will give some insight into the wonderful learning that is going on in our class.
The overall goal of a four-year-old program is to improve the children's understanding of the world and to strengthen their desire to continue learning. All lessons are planned using appropriate, intellectually challenging standards in language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, physical development, the arts, and personal social development.
Early childhood programs actively involve children in learning experiences consistent with their development and help children acquire a strong foundation for future learning. In their daily learning experiences the children will have opportunities to: make choices and decisions; manipulate materials; interact with peers and adults; experience special events; reflect on ideas and actions; use language in personally meaningful ways; and receive appropriate adult supervision.
