Dear Parents,

I am so excited to have your child in my class this year!  I look forward to working with you to help your 4th grader be even more successful in school and in life!  To be able to give my students the positive learning environment they deserve, I have developed the following classroom behavior plan that will be in effect at all times:

Rules:          1. Always do your best.

                              2. Be a good listener.

                              3.  Be honest.

                              4.  Be kind to others.

                              5.  Follow directions.

                              6.  Use good manners.

If a student chooses to break a rule, the consequences are: Warning, 5 minutes off recess, 10 minutes off recess, note sent home, and sent to Mrs. Morgan (principal).

Students who behave appropriately will be positively rewarded with positive notes home, praise, stickers, and free time.  It is in your child’s best interest that we work together regarding his or her progress, both in academics and behavior.

Each day, your child will write the night’s homework assignments in his or her agenda.  Please be sure to look at and initial the agenda each night to let me know that you have seen it and checked your child’s work. This year the majority of school/home communication will be on my website. Please check the site weekly for updates and ideas. The link is http://teachers.greenville.k12.sc.us/sites/njones.

4th grade is an important year in your child developing independence. You can be a huge help by encouraging them to take responsibility for their homework and grades. We would love to have you stop by for lunch, but please be aware that all other times of the day are important for your child to continue developing independent skills in all areas.

I am open to any comments or questions you might have now and throughout the school year.  We are teammates and communication is vital.  I can be reached at school by phone (355-0300) or by e-mail (njones@greenville.k12.sc.us).  Impromptu conferences at the beginning or end of the day do not allow me to give you my full attention. To make sure I can give you my full attention, conferences need to be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Thank you for your support, and I look forward to a wonderful school year!

Sincerely,

4th Grade Teachers
