Drama is the study of theater, the ancient tradition of telling a story to an audience through the use of the spoken word and physical movement. In this class, students will sample from the many aspects of theater, including:

*  performing individually and in groups for the class and for non-class members

*  writing monologues, scenes, and performance critiques

*  directing other students in dramatic scenes

*  learning theater history from its origins through its development and modern forms

*  having FUN while gaining confidence and exercising personal creativity

The grading for Drama uses the following percentages:

Minor Assessments

20% Class participation

20% Quizzes

Major Assessments

20% Performances/projects

20% Polished drafts

20% Tests

100% TOTAL

There will be a written exam for both semesters, covering theater terms and history. The first semester exam will include all information covered in the first eighteen weeks. The second exam will be comprehensive, covering both semesters.

The final project for the class will be a one act play, performed for an audience. Watch for announcements as to when and where this will occur.
