Course Descriptions 1. Automotive Technology Students will be introduced to careers in the service and repair aspects of the transportation industry. They will also gain basic automotive service repair skills and knowledge that are requiredfor advanced courses. Units studied include: Safety, Measuring Tools, Fasteners, Hand Tools, Power Tools, Basic Electricity, Tire and Wheel Service, Preventive Maintenance, Basic Engine Fundamentals, and Information Systems. 2. Automotive Electronics This course is designed to prepare students to troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic problems. Emphasis will be placed on understanding Ohm’s Law and the use of electrical meters and test instruments. Additionally, starting, charging and lighting systems will be studied. This course will allow students to develop knowledge and skills for the following semester in which students will study computerized power train management systems. |
