Mission Statement
We provide educational experiences, in cooperation with the home and community, that prepare students for lifelong learning and for ethical, productive participation in a democratic society and the global community.
WELCOME ...to the 2011-12 school year at Mauldin High School! I am excited about having your child in my Global Studies II class. We will be studying history from the Renaissance to the present. The study will include the various peoples who have influenced the development of the modern world, the who, why, how, where, when, and what, are the common themes throughout history.
We will trek the continents, sail the “seven seas”, and hear the beat of distant drums, while studying various civilizations, governments, cultures, and “tasting” the different cuisines...and if we’re not careful, we will have fun doing these things.
This study will include lecture, outside readings, current issues, discussions, taking notes, quizzes, tests, and projects. Projects will be announced 2 weeks prior to the due date with a sample evaluation/rubric given to each student at the time of the announcement. Current issue forms will be given with at least a four day notice. Each student will be given a course syllabus, which includes unit/chapter/section to be studied, class expectations, and various items to help the student.
