Thanks for visiting Susanne Lafaye's Home Page. This is a tutorial class consisting of about 30 students. Here is a little about me! I have a M. ED; master's degree in Special Education with an emphasis in Learning Disabilities from the University of South Carolina. Let me tell you about my personal education philosophy!

My philosophy of teaching is that I feel that students learn best when instruction is directly taught. Students learn at different paces and the teacher must be aware of these individual differences and adjust the pace of instruction accordingly. Students need a varied amount of time to practice skills and the role of teacher guidance in monitoring the practice of these skills is critical.
It is very important that I remediate students deficits. It is also my job to assist students with their academic classes. I also want them to learn to become organized, using an agenda to write down their assignments. My main goal is for students to be successful in their regular classes.
I will be teaching an HSAP preperation lesson one day per week in order to help prepare your child for this high school exit exam that will be given in October and April.
My classroom management is based on a program called Teaching With Love and Logic by Jim Fay and David Funk. This technique helps students to be more responsible for their own behavior and become productive citizens. Over the past several years I have seen such positive results in students' behaviors in the classroom!
