Welcome to the 2011-12 session of Math, where we learn through all five senses. Students will utilize technology, mnemonics, songs, activities, graphics, manipulatives, applications, problem solving, and real life applications of math Wanna see your brain on Math?? |
There are a few classroom rules and expectations:
Be on time with all your necessary supplies. This includes your textbook, notebook, and a supply of pencils. Always have backups! I've seen many mechanical pencils break down at just the wrong time!! Raise your hand to talk so I don't miss what you say and so you don't talk when someone else talks. I can only hear one person at a time and what you have to say is very important to me. Show respect for yourself, your teacher, and all other students. If someone makes a mistake, encourage them to try again! Give praise for small successes by your classmates! Ask Questions! The only dumb question is the one you don't ask! If you can leave my classroom understanding what we did that day, you can build on it the next day. If you don't understand it, you will fall behind. I will take the time to show you different ways to do problems until that lightbulb comes on!! Do your homework!! I don't assign a lot of homework, but I do assign it every day. It is important that you practice what you learned so that you "get it!" MAth is a series of steps that need each other!! If you miss a couple, it makes climbing the ladder of success difficult! Practice does make perfect! Tell the Truth. If you make a mistake, admit it, learn from it, and don't repeat it. The truth is the measure of a person's character.
