Introduction

My classes: I teach AP Physics C Mechanics and E&M, AP Statistics, AP Computer Science I & II, and IB Design Technology, a class focused on the innovation process.

To access my classroom information including my schedule, class syllabi, lesson plans, practice tests etc., click the syllabi link in the table to the right.

My internet activities: I've been on the web since April of 1996 and so, my site includes several hundred pages of information on all sorts of topics as listed in my links page. Generally, if you input "mr rogers <subject>" for any subject I teach, I teach I will come up as number one in Google

My most popular web feature is called "Insultingly Stupid Movie Physics". In it I review Hollywood movies for physics content. This page has been written about in numerous publications including Physics Today, the New York Times, and the Hollywood Reporter as well as the Greenville News. It has been featured on National Public Radio (NPR)and the Osgood Files on CBS radio.

Insultingly Stupid Movie Physics is now available as a book that has lots of new content not found on the web site. You can find it at any book store or order it at amazon.com.

My site also includes a section on the physics of resonance and a section called Amazing Applications of Probability and Statistics. Parts of both sections were supported by a National Science Foundation Research Experience for Teachers grant as part of Clemson University's Summer Undergraduate Research Experience in Wireless Communications.

My other activities: In addition to teaching, I sponsor the SAM InvenTeam (Southside Automated Machines)--an extra curricular organization devoted to innovation and originally formed with a grand from Lemelson-MIT. The team's first project was to invent and build a stair climbing robot for firefighters. With help from Ms. Shoun, I sponsor the science fair activities at Southside, which have produced a regular supply of both regional and international science fair award winners.

For several years I have worked with a group of university professors and high school teachers and other interested individuals to help promote and improve K-12 computer science education. Recently, I have become the South Carolina Cohort for the Computer Science Teachers Association and am now looking forward to an official role in helping make our state a great environment for computing.
