August 2011

Dear Parents,

I welcome your son/daughter to Mauldin High for the 2011-2012 school year! I’m looking forward to learning, sharing and growing along with your child this year. We will be covering major historical concepts and themes and I will do my best to keep history exciting and relevant while engaging them in meaningful learning. We will be moving at a consistent speed and I expect each student to put forth their very best effort in keeping up with their daily assignments.

It is very important that you and your child read my classroom expectations and review the student handbook. Knowledge and application of these classroom expectations lends itself to a positive, productive learning environment for everyone. Weekly and/or unit assignments will be posted and given orally during class; students must keep up with assignments. Classroom activities will include lectures/note-taking, reading and writing assignments, individual and cooperative group assignments and projects, map studies, discussions, tests, quizzes, and current event assignments.

Progress reports will go home at regular intervals. I am always available by calling Mauldin High School at 355-6525 or by emailing me. If I’m in class when you call, please leave a message and I’ll return your call as soon as possible.

Again, I look forward to having your son/daughter in my classroom this year. I consider it an honor to contribute to their future success as young adults and will do my very best to help make this school year an enriching experience for them.

Sincerely,

William Huggins
